Teh Dum

Things you should know when sending money Western Union.
When a field on the form asks for a country, trying to input “Africa” will not work…
Yes.  This is the Dumb I work with everyday.
She couldn’t understand WHY should couldn’t find it.  And she never did figure it out.  She just asked me about it today.
Her: “Hey Luna…Can we not send money to Africa?”
Me: “I don’t see why not.  Why?”
Her: “Well I was trying to send money to Africa yesterday and I couldn’t get it to send.  It just wouldn’t pull up.”
Me: “Which country?”
Her: “Africa.”
Me: “Yes, I know that, but what country in Africa?”
Her “…”
Me: “Africa is a continent.  You have to choose a country to send it to in Africa.”
Her:  ”oh…well that’s probably why it didn’t work”
Also… It is Filipino food.  *NOT* “Filipeen”food.  Your ex husband is Filipino or is from the Philippines. He is NOT Filipeen.
Sweet merciful Gods, save me from the stupid.
Oh well, at least she bathes.

Let’s talk Gun Control

Today was a crazy day at work. Around 4:30pm someone comes in the store and says there is some guy in his car stuck under his steering wheel screaming for help. We go out and check it out, Someone had already called 911 so just as that is ending, we hear this scream coming from the grocery side of the store.

Here’s the story: One of our cashiers was on lunch. Something got said to this customer’s girlfriend. Words were exchanged. The cashier and said dude started to physically get into it. Cashier starts to get the upperhand. Customer dude pulls a gun.

Pulls.
A.
GUN!

Really?

This guy also has a Conceal Carry.

This is why we need stricter gun laws.

Luckily no one was hurt. Had the cops not already been on the property the guy would have gotten away.

Beer Braised Beef, Onions and Mushrooms

I was craving red meat for dinner tonight. I decided to make beer braised beef and onions ala Ree Drummond but with my own added twist. Basically I used her idea as a base and came up with this.
Beer Braised Beef, Onions and Mushrooms.
1 2-5lb chuck roast
2 medium sized sweet onions
1 Tbsp Minced Garlic (to taste)
1 8oz mushrooms, sliced
1 bottle of Beer (I used Budweiser, but any would be good)
1 small can beef consommé.
1 pkg dry onion soup mix (I used Lipton Beefy Mushroom)
Ground Thyme
Rosemary
Salt
Pepper

1. Preheat oven to 300.
2. Season chuck roast with plenty of salt and fresh cracked black pepper.
3. Heat oil in dutch oven and brown both sides of roast, remove to plate.
4. Slice onions relatively thick and add, along with mushrooms and garlic, to the oil and brown bits in the dutch oven. Cook until onions are soft and translucent.
5. Pour in can of consommé and bottle of beer and stir, bringing to a simmer.
6. Add dry onion soup mix, thyme and rosemary. I’ll leave the amounts here up to you. I used about a tsp of each.
7. Add roast back to liquid and submerge. Cover with lid and place into preheated oven.
8. Cook for 2 ½ – 3 hours until fork tender.

The fork tender is important. When you stick two forks in the meat it should separate without resistance. If it does not then it needs to cook longer.
I plan on serving this with rice and green beans, but this would also be tasty shredded and served over egg noodles, I’m sure.
I will update this after it is done and dinner has been had to tell you whatever else I have decided to do to it!

Here is a crappy phone photo since I didn’t take photos. This is prior to oven time, I’ll take another when it comes out.Beer Braised Beef, Onions and Mushrooms

Cheers,
Luna

Penelope

My sweet baby girl passed away last night.  She appeared to have had a stroke.  She was weak and hadn’t eaten in a few days, save for a bit of yogurt.  She was refusing water and was starting to get severely dehydrated.  I couldn’t let her suffer anymore.  I was going to let her go through the night but I couldn’t bear to let her linger.  I have a friend who is a vet tech and told me a peaceful way to help her pass peacefully in her sleep.   I took her out to Ramsey’s parents today to prepare her for burial when the ground thaws.  We have 2 cats also awaiting little kitty funerals.

Sleep sweetly my little Ratters McFattersons.  I will love you always.

First week was a success…

I probably should have taken a before photo, but I don’t think 6 lbs will make that much of a difference.  So once a week I am going to take a photo of myself after my Weight Watchers meeting and post progress here.
Like I said, my first week I lost 6lbs.  This brings me to a solid  168lbs.  CRAZY.  I actually think I asked the lady if she was sure that 6lbs was right. We will see how this next week goes.  I have still been sticking to it.  I’ve been a champ.  Today I even realized that my stomach is actually starting to shrink to a normal size again.  A turkey wrap and half an ounce of chips filled me up.  I wasn’t bloated full but I was definitely satisfied. This is the point I need to get to.  I need to get to the point where I can eat whatever I want just in the right portion sizes.  Once I hit 20lbs of weight loss I’m really gonna buckle down and start up the cardio.  I am considering going twice a week now just to start building up my stamina, but man it gets painful.  So hard to breath it hurts.  Anyhoooooo

There’s the first photo.  Expect another one Saturday after weigh in.  :D
